The Wine Advocate:

The 2016 Las Quintas is a blend of Mencía with 13% Alicante Bouschet (Garnacha Tintorera) and 2% white Palomino from vineyards in the villages of Quintana, Congosto and Quintanilla de Flórez. It fermented with 90% full clusters in oak vats and matured in 500-liter oak barrels for 12 months. There are some smoky and spicy notes, but the core is fresh with notes of flowers, wild herbs and berries. The palate is medium-bodied, with some dusty tannins that might need a little bit of time in bottle to get polished. There is some influence from the élevage in the aromas and texture. Give it one more year. 7,340 bottles were filled in February 2018.
