L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The fact that a modern négociant like Uvas Felices releases a Rioja Gran Reserva says a lot about the changes in the market. Ten years ago this would have been unthinkable. The 2004 La Locomotora Gran Reserva is pure Tempranillo from Briones that matured in French and American barriques for two years, during which time it was racked four times. It doesn't look and feel that different from the 2010 Reserva, with less fruit and more spice. The palate feels very polished, light to medium-bodied, not very deep or complex, but quite drinkable. 3,240 bottles were filled in May 2015. - Luis Gutiérrez.
