The Wine Advocate:

The 'other' white grape grown in Rueda that nobody talks about is Viura, the main white grape in Rioja, which is exactly the variety used to produce the 2015 Judas. 2015 yielded less grapes, as it was a very dry and warm year, the grapes from 60-year-old vines in the village of Villanueva de Duero at 750 meters altitude achieved good ripeness and the wine reached 14.2% alcohol. It fermented in 300- and 500-liter oak barrels where it was kept with the lees for one year followed by two months in stainless steel vats before bottling. The nose is a little reticent, not terribly expressive, and not much about fruit, in the austere style of a Viura. The palate is very tasty and fresh, with a sapid, tasty sensation. It leaves a salty sensation in the lips. 1,300 bottles produced.
