The Wine Advocate:

"The 2013 Finca Pombeiras, as with all these field blends from old vineyards, contains mainly Mencía with a myriad of other varieties: Caíño, Sousón, Brancellao, Merenzao, Negreda, Garnacha, Mouratón... 2013 is the latest harvest they remember ever and it was rainy and complicated. The full clusters fermented in open top 700- and 1,800-liter oak barrels with indigenous yeasts. The wine was transferred to 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels where it was kept for some 10-12 months. This tasting is always a dilemma and the results (between this and the Capeliños) could be changed every five minutes, as both wines change and evolve in the glass all the time. There are flowers, orange peel, Asian spices, wild berries and something earthy. Oh, well! This year I think they are both at the same level, with one extra degree of freshness and precision compared with 2012. Super! Only 700 bottles were produced in 2013".
