L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

Their younger white, the 2016 Blanco 2º Año, released in its second year, is a blend of Viura with 15% Tempranillo Blanco from vines around Haro. They used around 50% whole clusters in the pressing, and the juice fermented with indigenous yeasts at controlled temperatures. Half of the volume aged in untoasted French oak barrels for five months with the fine lees, while the rest was kept in concrete vats. It's very fresh and varietal, clean and balanced, with a pleasant faint bitterness on the finish. 2016 feels like a great vintage for whites. I cannot wait to try the Montes Obarenes from 2016. 33,000 bottles were filled in July 2017. - Luis Gutiérrez.

Decanter:

Now being revived under new ownership. Its Montes Obarenes white is not yet available in the UK, but in the meantime seek out this great-value Blanco. Mainly Viura with a dash of Tempranillo Blanco, it shows the producer’s keynote freshness. - Sarah Jane Evans MW.
