Escalada do Sil 2018

The white 2018 Escalada do Sil Blanco is pure Godello from two vineyards on the slopes of the Sil River. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in 600-liter French oak barrels, where the wine matured for one year followed by five months in stainless steel. It didn't go through malolactic fermentation. The wine is quite oaky, spicy and smoky, with a Burgundian profile, balsamic and with some bay leaf aromas. The palate is quite lively with concentration and freshness, very good acidity and a bitter twist that is a giveaway for Godello. Modern and clean, not very Valdeorras but very good. 1,150 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2019.
