L'avis des experts

Tim Atkin:

El Puntido comes from a vineyard that surrounds the cellar in Páganos, located on limestone and sandstone soils. Aged in new French oak, which is generally the case with the top reds from the Eguren brothers, it's a powerhouse of a wine, with masses of texture and concentration, chewy tannins and assertive oak. International in style, this finishes with a chalky lift. 2025-35

James Suckling:

A red with blackberry and cherry aromas, as well as some slate and graphite. Medium body. Solid core of fruit and tannins. Drink or hold.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2018 El Puntido is lighter and fresher, with very fine tannins. The wine is in the process of being integrated after spending 16 months in brand-new French oak barrels and resting in tank for six months before bottling. These are powerful and concentrated wines, but in 2018 they are a little lighter. I like them better. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in Dec. 2020. This is usually the last wine to be bottled before the end of the year.
