Dominio de Atauta Albillo Mayor 2020

The first white they have produced, the 2020 Albillo Mayor Cepas Prefiloxéricas is made with grapes from single vines in the different vineyards. They did four different vinifications, pressing the bunches, some with skins, part in stainless steel and part in large barrel, as they thought this would add more nuance to the wine. They consider 2020 in their zone (which is very different to the rest of Ribera del Duero) to be similar to 2016, perhaps with less concentration. The wine has 12.6% alcohol and good acidity (it didn't go through malolactic), and it's very balsamic and medicinal, with white fruit and flowers after some time in the glass. It has a vibrant palate and is nicely textured, with a bitter twist in the finish. 2,316 bottles were filled in May 2020.
