The Wine Advocate:

"The flagship wine is sold later than the norm, but it's still too young to drink when released as you can clearly see in the 2009 Demencia de Autor, which is a ripe Mencía from a warm vintage where the wine reached 15% alcohol. It was sourced from different plots of old vines on different kinds of soil that fermented in stainless steel and aged for 13 months in barrel, the first six of which it matured in contact with the fine lees and with frequent bâttonage. It has a ripe nose with marked aromas derived from the oak, smoke, vanilla, cinnamon, clove and shoe polish and a background of ripe black fruit. The palate is full-bodied, with great concentration and huge tannins, still quite undrinkable. This is a bodybuilder of a wine that need to tame down its tannins with time in bottle. A powerful red for the long term and for fans of the style. 7,326 bottles".
