Cantocuerdas Moscatel 2016

The just-bottled 2016 Cantocuerdas Moscatel Dulce felt very closed and not as varietal or expressive as the dry version of Moscatel. This is selected from a cooler place, with fresher soils that keep the grapes even when they are harvested later, and in the fresh 2016 vintage, the grapes were healthy until they were picked and maintained good acidity. It didn't feel very sweet (it has some 60 grams of residual sugar), perhaps without great depth or complexity. There will be a 2017, but they couldn't do this wine in 2018.
