L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The third wine in the collection, the 2015 Colección Nº 3 El Chozo Del Bombón is pure Tempranillo from the vineyard that names the wine, a 50-year-old vineyard on brown limestone soils. It fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in new French oak barrels for 18 months. I find the oak to be better integrated here than in the previous vintage, possibly the effect of a year that has produced more powerful wines that have been able to take the élevage in brand new barrels. It's quite representative of the house style and the character of ripe Tempranillo. 3,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2017. - Luis Gutiérrez.

Tim Atkin:

Bombón is another impressive release in this ambitiously packaged quartet of reds from Benjamín Romeo, made with bush-vine Tempranillo from San Vicente. Smooth, textured and palate coating, with sweet fig and mulberry fruit, scented oak and enough backbone and acidity to age further in bottle. 2020-26
