L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The 2016 Quintanilla is a single-vineyard bottling from the town of Elvillar. It comes from one of the walled, old-vine plots located in what was the 15th-century village of San Lorenzo de Quintanilla. The plot tends to produce powerful wines and is always used to make the blend of the Pagos Viejos. This has good ripeness, and the shallow soils in the higher-altitude zones (this is at the top of a small ridge) tend to give some clout to the wines. It has some chalky tannins that would benefit from a little more time in bottle. It's a wine that combines power with elegance. 2,400 bottles produced. - Luis Gutiérrez.

Suckling:

This has deep-set, dark-stone and spice character with blackberries, black spices and black tea. Dense and layered, tightly focused and composed. Goes on for minutes. Wonderful now, but one for the future. Drink or hold.
