Akutain Cosecha 2018

The unoaked red 2018 Cosecha is the first in the classical hierarchy of Rioja wines. Here, they aim for more fruit and moderate alcohol and acidity to make it easier to drink, so they selected grapes from a plot in Fonzabala planted in 1990 at 570 meters in altitude. There is a meaty side to it, even if the core is fruit and earth with a twist of elegant rusticity. It's quite light and refreshing, fluid and savory, with very fine, chalky tannins. 16,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2019.
