L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

"The red 2015 Villa de San Lorenzo, sourced from a warm vintage with good balance and moderate acidity, is a fruit-driven Mencía sourced from different vineyards on slate and quartz soils. It fermented in cement vats with natural yeasts. Thirty percent of the volume aged in third-use French oak barrels and the rest was kept in concrete. The nose mixes flowers and berries with a spicy twist, developing notes of licorice and some spices. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and moderate acidity, dry, with an earthy sensation that provides some austerity. Very good value and a worthy example of red Bierzo from the slate soils. 9,000 bottles were filled in September 2016."
