L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

The eponymous red 2016 Vetus was cropped from a cooler and wetter year that resulted in a large crop and late ripening. It was produced with fruit from old, head-pruned vines, some ungrafted. They didn't produce the top-of-the-range Celsus in 2016, so those grapes contributed to this cuvée. It fermented in small tanks and matured in French and American oak barrels for one year. I felt less noticeable and better-integrated oak here than in previous vintages. It also has the freshness of the 2016 vintage, with fine, chalky tannins and a supple finish. It should develop nicely in bottle. 16,000 bottles were filled in June 2018.

James Suckling:

A bright and juicy Toro with vibrant, ripe dark cherries and berries on offer. Plenty to offer on the palate. Plush mulberries, plums and blueberries. Drink or hold.
