"I found the nose of the 2013 Venus la Universal truly captivating. The blend has been changing over time, and there's now only a small part of Syrah with some 60% Cariñena and 30% Garnacha from clay and limestone soils. It's very aromatic, expressive and open, with floral, elegant aromas and a subtle mouthfeel with velvety tannins and a core of acidity that seems to be the backbone that lifts it up. It has a very long, tasty finish. 5,400 bottles produced from a 4,000-liter foudre."
Créé en 1999 et devenu aujourd’hui l'un des domaines les plus prestigieux de l'appellation Montsant, Venus la Universal est le projet le plus personnel de Sara Perez (Mas Martinet) et de René Barbier Jr (Clos Mogador). [break]
Après s'être formés au sein de leurs propres domaines familiaux du Priorat, ils s'aventurent tous deux dans l'appellation Montsant alors que celle-ci n'existe pas encore (elle s'appelle alors sous-zone Falset).

Great wine, bold tannins and a good balance of accidity... Oak and strong earthy pepper. Quite rough, not suitable with other than proteins.
