Description

The Wine Advocate:

"The top wine was not produced in 2013 as there was hail in the old, ungrafted Monastrell vineyard where the grapes are sourced, so he has been forced to jump to the 2014 Uno. These special grapes, from limestone-rich and sandy soils, received the most careful vinification and upbringing in small stainless steel open vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by an élevage of ten months in 500-liter French oak barrels. 2014 didn't go without challenges, as the growing season saw no more than 180 liters of rain and the ripening was one week earlier than normal. The wine shows very varietal with those notes of rusticity that I identify as tree bark, something earthy and a core of ripe fruit without any excess or hints of overripeness so common in the warm climates. The palate revealed great balance, fine tannins, and good freshness even when the acidity is moderate. A textbook Mediterranean Monastrell. 5,200 bottles were filled in January 2016".
