Description

The Wine Advocate:

The 2012 Reserva is pure Tempranillo from a dry and healthy vintage. It matured in oak barrels for 18 months and is classical, clean, balsamic, faintly smoky and layered. Even though it's from an extremely dry vintage, the wines from the cooler Sonsierra zone of Rioja managed to keep the freshness. There are notes of fresh meat, some iron and underbrush. The palate is juicy with soft, polished tannins and a velvety texture. 20,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2015.

James Suckling:

Plenty of blueberry, blackberry and bitter-chocolate character with a slug of healthy tannins wrapped inside, making this quite a serious wine that still needs a couple of years to reach its best harmony. Long and powerful, but assertively dry finish. Better from 2019.
