Sameirás Libro Tinto 2018

The 2018 Libro Tinto is the most aromatic, nuanced and characterful red I have tasted from Sameirás to date. Perhaps the secret is that the base here was Caíño, a floral, elegant and aromatic variety that was given a very light oaking to respect the personality of the grape. The Caíño was also complemented by some Sousón and Brancellao that come through as more sophisticated and elegant than the regular Sameirás red from this same vintage. All the varieties fermented together with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak barrels for some three months. Bravo! 1,200 numbered bottles were filled in July 2019.
