The Wine Advocate:

"Against all trends, the 2010 Pittacum Aurea now comes in a bulky, extremely heavy bottle. However, it seems like this 2010 is a great vintage for the Pittacum Aurea, and the size and power of the wine match the bottle. It is a selection from a specific vineyard, Finca Areixola, planted with centenary vines. The wine aged in new French oak barriques. It is certainly a power-Bierzo - ripe, concentrated and powerful, mixing aromas of dry hay and straw with black berries and something earthy. The palate is also powerful, but the tannins have surely been polished as the wine has been in bottle since mid-2012. This has to be one of the best recent vintages of Pittacum Aurea - a wine that is now ready, but also has enough stuffing to last in bottle. 15,000 bottles produced".
