L'avis des experts

James Suckling:

Remarkably floral and crisp for this grape, offering so much vitality and delicacy for a red with over 14 per cent alcohol. That makes it an incredibly food-friendly wine that you can also drink solo. Serious aging potential, too.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2015 Pasos de San Martín comes from 11 hectares of old vines they purchased in the village of San Martín de Unx, and this is their village wine from San Martin. It fermented in open-top stainless steel vats and matured in used 500-liter barrique until it completed malolactic fermentation. However, the oak is slightly marked, especially when compared with the Santa Cruz de Artazu I tasted next to it. It has some creamy notes and sweet fruit, with berry notes and some spices. It has a soft palate with fine-grained tannins and good freshness. It's quite approachable and easy to drink. In principle, the village level delivers subtler and fresher wines, but I'm comparing this with a much cooler vintage of the red from Artazu. 12,000 bottles were filled in September 2017.
