L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

Like the majority of the reds, the 2016 La Hormiga de Antídoto is the best vintage so far of this cuvée, produced exclusively from their own very old vineyards in San Esteban de Gormaz. It matured in about 50% new barrels for 15 months, a shorter time than before, because they saw the 2016s were ready with less time in oak. It's quite marked by the élevage, and I always find this wine quite oaky. I'm not sure the wine improves with so much new oak (in fact, I'd like to taste it from used barrels), as it is noticeable not only in the aromas but also in the texture of the tannins and, of course, in the flavors, where I saw a faint bitterness. Wait a little for the wine to absorb the oak. 14,000 bottles were filled in March 2018.

James Suckling:

Brambly, rich dark berries and plenty of clove and cedar. Big rich-fruit palate and a tangy surge of acidity. This has composed and powerful fruit and great concentration. Drink or hold.
