The 2015 Huaso de Sauzal Cariñena is produced with grapes from ungrafted vines planted in the 1940s on granite soils in Puico, Triquilemu and Sauzal in Maule. The production method is very manual, simple and traditional and the same for all wines: hand-destemming with a zaranda, fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open wooden lagars and élevage of one year in oak barrel followed by a further year in bottle. This is a little darker and has the rusticity of the grape, a little earthy and dusty. The palate has great freshness and vibrant acidity. 7,500 bottles were filled in March 2016.
