L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

"The NV Cuatro Palmas had a slightly misleading name in the past (the word Fino is not used anymore on the label). Always a truly outstanding wine, this October 2016 bottling in a half-liter, slender clear bottle, is really an old Amontillado. It has notes of old age, saltpeter, low tide, rusty nail and incense over a core of nutty aromas of hazelnuts and esparto grass. The old age and concentration is shown in its alcoholic degree (21.5%), the high acidity (8.7 grams), residual sugar (5.9 grams that are unnoticeable and normal) and dry extract, as evaporation concentrates everything. According to the data provided, this has aged for 51 years in a dynamic criadera and solera system. It manages to combine power with elegance. The intensity and length are really outstanding. Only 500 half-liter bottles were filled in October 2016 (as seen on the back label to differentiate it from previous bottlings)."

Decanter:

"Roasted coffee, toffee, orange and spice aromas; concentrated, round, rich and evolved, with lots of walnuts, dried fruit and fruitcake. A magnificent masterpiece of the ageing process."
