Epistem Noº 5 Espernalas 2016

The dark, dense and impressive 2016 Epistem n. 5 Espernalas is now produced with Monastrell grapes from an ungrafted vineyard they call Espernalas. They have added the name of the vineyard to the wine starting with this vintage, because in the future, they will o produce two Epistem n. 5 bottlings. This is a hedonistic fruit bomb with the proverbial gobs and gobs of juicy berry fruit balanced by nice acidity. It's an XXL style of Monastrell nicely crafted in that style. This is sold without appellation of origin, as a varietal wine but produced with grapes grown within the Jumilla limits. Only 670 bottles were filled in October 2018. - Luis Gutiérrez. 

Impressive wild-herb notes, across ripe blue plums and blueberries. The palate holds a wealth of fruit flavor with a bold, fresh and crisp palate. Juicy, firmish resolve. Drink or hold.
