L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

2017 was a year of hail in the middle of the harvest in the Alicante zone where they grow the Monastrell grapes for the 2017 El Sequé. So, the vintage was very low yielding; they only used the grapes they had picked before the torrential rains from a Mediterranean phenomenon called "gota fría" (cold drop). The wine is ripe and perhaps a little blurry—not as defined and focused as the last couple of vintages—with lots of licorice and plums intermixed with Mediterranean herbs. The palate is round, with polished tannins and a tender mouthfeel. An easy-to-drink Monastrell. 35,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2019.

James Suckling:

This has a distinctive, chalky edge to the nose with a fresh, cassis and blueberry edge. The palate has a very plush, silky and crunchy feel. So precise and sapid. Drink or hold.
