Comptant parmi les vins au meilleur rapport points-plaisir/prix de toute la vallée du Rhône, Domaine de l'échevin est issu de la petite appellation Saint Maurice. Son assemblage dominé par la Syrah accueille également du Grenache pour donner plus de rondeur à l'ensemble. Décrit par le domaine comme un vin « honnête et envoûtant, avec une sensation d'énergie unique », il est produit selon des méthodes traditionnelles et durables, et obtiendra prochainement la certification Demeter.

Now that it's in bottle, the 2016 Cotes du Rhone Villages Saint Maurice is looking as good as I hoped it would last year. A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache, it's loaded with dark fruit, cola and spice. Medium to full-bodied, with a silky-creamy texture, it finishes long and fine.

Moving to the reds, the 2016 Côtes du Rhône Villages Saint Maurice is a larger production release, and it’s more rounded, forward, and charming compared to the more serious Guillaume de Rouville release. Peppery herbs, blackberries, black raspberries and garrigue notes all flow to a medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, and incredibly satisfying 2016 that will keep for 4-5 years. The blend is 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache brought up in older barrels.
