L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

Released much earlier than the rest of the wines, the 2016 Cirsion is produced with very ripe grapes that they think need less time in oak, and the wine is therefore bottled and released earlier. It's a blend of Tempranillo with 11% Graciano matured in new French barriques for eight months, bottled and released ten months later. This is young and heady, explosive, with plenty of ripe fruit and a hedonistic profile. It has abundant, very fine tannins and a good thread of acidity going through its core that lifts the finish. It's unashamedly modern and showy. 12,500 bottles were filled in March 2018. - Luis Gutiérrez.

James Suckling:

This is the new 2001. Superb. Amazing aromas and flavors of dark fruit, spice, tobacco, fresh herbs and dark berries. It goes on for minutes on the palate. Full-bodied, tight and chewy. Superb structure. Needs at least three or four years to soften. Better in 2021.

Tim Atkin:

Roda's top wine is not made every year and is the most modern of the bodega's impressive line up of reds. Made only with fruit from old vines, this is a cuvée of Tempranillo with 11% Graciano that has a long life ahead of it. Serious, savoury and wonderfully complex. 2022-35

Decanter:

Cirsion was the late entry to the Roda family, using fruit specially selected for their smooth tannins. It’s very clearly the top wine, more powerful, more expressive, more structured. At the same time it’s had much less time in oak, half that of Roda I, with the result that it’s released much younger, and is more approachable in its early years. The blend differs from Roda I, with a much greater influence from Graciano (11%), emphasising the freshness and the dark fruit. Graciano is making a regular appearance to balance the effects of climate change’s warmer vintages. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030
