L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

Made only in select vintages, the 2016 Languedoc Saint Drezery la 40eme is another full-bodied, lush, velvety wine from this top-notch estate. It's Grenache and Syrah, fermented with stems and without any yeast or SO2 additions. It comes across as much livelier and redder-fruited than the other blended wines, blending hints of raspberries with cola and spice on the long finish.- Joe Czerwinski.

Jeb Dunnuck:

A blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah brought up in two-thirds new oak, the 2016 La 40 ème is only made in top vintages and was previously made in 2002, 2007, and 2010. It stands out in the lineup and reminds me of an old school Châteauneuf-du-Pape with its bloody, meaty, olive-laced notes of ground pepper, smoked earth, garrigue, and assorted dark fruits. With full-bodied richness, a concentrated, deep, layered texture, and sweet tannins, it’s a monster of a wine that stays perfectly balanced. Give bottles 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.
