L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

"The first of two whites, the 2012 Blanco is mostly Viura with some 5% Malvasía Riojana (also known as Alarije in Extremadura and Subirat Parent in Penedès) sourced from vineyards planted on clay-rich soils with deep gravels averaging 55 years of age in the village of Briones. The must fermented in new French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts where it matured for a total of 14 months, the first seven of which it was in contact with the lees and was stirred twice per week. It has aromas of baked bread, yeast and lees, with an herbal hint (than made me think of a Sancerre!), a mixture of lemon and honey and plenty of earthy, mineral sensations. The oak is perfectly integrated with the fruit and the palate shows austerity, mineral, earthy, with acidity that needs bottle age. It should also develop more complexity, as it feels very young an undeveloped. A bit disconcerting, because it feels so fresh and Atlantic, but it's a great showing. 32,000 bottles produced."
