L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

"The 2014 Terra de Cuques always has that gentle touch provided by the 10% Moscatel used to complement the Pedro Ximenez. The Pedro Ximenez is on clay soils at the village of Molar, and the Moscatel is slightly older and on slate soils in Porrera. The full clusters had a maceration of ten days with skins and stems and, once fermented, the wine spent 16 months in cement vats. Somehow this 2014 feels a little riper and with more extraction, with a deeper golden color. The nose is very mineral, and the fruit is more yellow than white, with the stems and skins providing a tannic structure to support the fruit. He was telling me that the wines from Sherry and Jura have helped people to understand this wine, which might be slightly oxidative. He also likes the whites from the south of France, Gauby or Matassa for example, and thinks these are wines that work very well with food. It combines the floral notes from Moscatel and the spiciness of Pedro Ximenez. This is a great Mediterranean white, mineral and with freshness. There were 14,488 bottles produced, which represents a significant increase from the 8,000 bottles of the 2013 vintage. He wants to reach 20,000 bottles here, with 60,000 bottles as a grand total in the winery, and get the growth from the Terroir Históric."
