The Wine Advocate:

"The white 2014 Massipa de Scala Dei is a blend of Garnacha Blanca with 20% Chenin Blanc, the evolution of the wine that was before called Blanc de Scala Dei. This wine wants to show the fresher side of the Garnacha Blanca from a single vineyard that names the wine, a plot at 650 meters altitude with red soils with gypsum planted some 45 years ago. It is the only white grape vineyard owned by Scala Dei, where the Chenin Blanc was planted in the late 1980s. The two varieties were harvested and pressed together, and the must put to ferment in a 1,200-liter oak foudre. During the first two months the lees were stirred periodically and then let to settle and mature for a further ten months. The nose is very elegant and subtle, with fine aniseed and spice aromas, lightly oaked, with a core of white fruit and balsamic herbs. The palate felt a little austere and tightly coiled, with very good acidity and a sharp finish. 800 bottles were filled in January 2016."
