L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate:

"The 2012 Las Cercas fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in 300-liter French oak barrels, 35% of which were new. It's a blend of approximately 60% Tempranillo and the rest Syrah, but the percentages can vary according to the conditions of the year. The grapes ripen at different times and are picked, fermented and aged separately, and the two wines are blended before bottling. Both varieties grow on the same soils -- sand with rolling stones. In 2012 they had a hail storm that affected their vineyards and especially the Syrah was damaged. It was also a very dry year and this vineyard does not have clay, so it suffered some stress and the Syrah ripened a little too much. There are more plums, and the nose shows the oak and a little more ripeness. The palate is full-bodied with grainy tannins and good balance. 10,500 bottles produced".
