El Chibirique 2015

"There is a new single-vineyard red from a 100-year-old vineyard planted with Listán Negro—the 2015 El Chibirique. They bought the plot in 2013 and this is the first release. The soils are rich in clay, which they reckon adds to the elegance of the wine. It fermented with some 30% full clusters without temperature control and with indigenous yeasts in concrete vats and matured in used 500-liter oak casks for nine months. There is a mixture of wild berries, rose hip, black pepper, flowers and wet stones. The palate is elegant and shows good balance between all its components. This is a great debut. 2,200 bottles were filled in August 2016."
